The Science of Understanding Global Warming

A discussion arose briefly in Anthropology class recently about how much humans have impacted the earth based on development of industry.  Have some societies impacted others, bringing about changes in their cultures by imposition of outside forces? Have some societies impacted the environment  more heavily than others?  "Global Warming" is but one aspect of the concern in relation to these questions, but it is also one that is the quickest target of some who would simply dismiss it as "unproven by science."  The following link leads to one discussion of the question, from the "Union of Concerned Scientists."

Global Warming and the Denial of Science?

The second link leads to a website that likewise discusses the nature of science, and what contemporary science has to say about global warming.

Climate Change Denial?

The point here is not just to "believe" these sources, but to investigate what they are saying, and to analyze whether they are grounded in supported evidence.
